Bow Wow, Inc. is an accessories sales company for dune buggies and Volkswagens, and they have several employees who are avid racers. One such employee is racing a Volkswagen powered off-road vehicle that has been racing in the Nevada desert. The races are usually 250 to 400 miles and take seven to eight hours over desert sand and old mining roads.
This particular engine was being lubricated with a commercial grade 15W-40 engine oil. While pulling through the sand, the engine would lug and overheat. The oil pressure showed 67 lbs. using this oil, with temperatures ranging from 230°-250°F (110-121°C).
Bow Wow has been a customer of LE’s since the mid-70s, and recommends LE’s Monolec Ultra® Engine Oil (8800). With the temperature problems being encountered in the off-road vehicle, it was recommended that they convert to Monolec.
After the conversion to Monolec 8800, operating temperatures dropped to a constant 210°F (99°C) and oil pressure went up to 74 lbs. Monolec 8800 contains Monolec, LE’s exclusive wear-reducing additive, a powerful additive package and 100% paraffin base oils which provide greater film strength and lubricity.
