By safely extending drain intervals on the forklift, Dale Morton aims to save money and enhance equipment protection, as the current commercial grade oil requires changes every 200 hours or two weeks.
A local LE lubrication consultant suggested testing LE’s 8430 MONOLEC GFS Engine Oil (SAE 30), designed for heavy-duty diesel and gasoline engines, by conducting monthly oil analyses and filter changes to demonstrate its effectiveness.
LE’s 8430 MONOLEC GFS Engine Oil, lasting 18 times longer than the previous oil, saved Southwest Pet Products $41.28 on oil and filters over nine months.
Southwest Pet Products, Inc. is a producer of a variety of pet foods. They have been an LE customer since 1978.
In their processing operation, Southwest Pet Products uses a Nissan forklift to move raw ingredients and finished product within their plant.
Dale Morton, Maintenance Supervisor, was interested in safely extending drain intervals on the forklift which would save him money and give better protection to the piece of equipment. With the commercial grade oil they were using, the oil and filters had to be changed every 200 hours or every two weeks.
The local LE lubrication consultant recommended doing a test to prove the value of LE’s 8430 MONOLEC GFS Engine Oil (SAE 30). LE’s 8430 is formulated for heavy-duty service and is excellent for diesel and gasoline engines. It is made from select paraffinic base oil and contains MONOLEC®, LE’s exclusive wear-reducing additive. The test would be monitored by doing oil analysis and changing the filter every month.
Southwest Pet Products indicated they were spending $180 for a 55 gallon drum or $0.82 per quart for the commercial grade oil. The Nissan forklift uses four quarts per engine oil change, and filter cost is approximately $4.00.
LE’s 8430 MONOLEC GFS Engine Oil lasted nine months (monitored by oil analysis). This was an amazing 18 times longer than the commercial grade engine oil they had been using. LE’s 8430 saved $41.28 on oil and filters during the nine-month period.
