Jubilee Fisheries, Inc. is a commercial fishing company based out of Seattle, Washington. They fish in the Gulf of Alaska and the Bearing Sea. They have been in business for 30 years, and an LE customer since 2005.
Application
A 1150 HP Alpha / B&W engine is the main propulsion for the Vaerdal.
Challenge

LE Solution
Local Lubrication Consultant, Stig Oftedal, recommended 8430 MONOLEC® GFS Engine Oil. LE’s 8430 is formulated for heavy-duty service in diesel engines. It is made from select paraffinic base oil and contains MONOLEC®, LE’s exclusive wear-reducing additive.
Results
Since the conversion to LE’s 8430, Jubilee have seen a noticeable change in wear on the cylinder liners, valves, guides and valve train. In the past they would do top end overhauls at every winter shipyard. They now can go two years on the heads and still see a lot less wear and destruction. The liners were installed two years ago concurrent with the product changeover and the liners are also in very good condition. They use about 10% less oil with LE’s 8430 over a given year. What they find impressive is they operate this main engine at the top of its performance curve 90% of the time, and the LE oil holds up much better than any other oil. Top of the performance curve means they operate at 100% of the engine’s capacity. They know their equipment well, and see amazing results. Jubilee also use LE’s 8430 in both of their 3406 CAT’s, the main propulsion gear, the F.O. centrifuge, air compressor sumps and even in the pressure washers in the factory, all with great results.
