Customer Profile
Jimmy Brown Farms produces and provides top quality beef cows, horses and hay. They ship cattle and horses all over the southern states and their hay is sold on the local market. They have been in business since 1971, and an LE customer since 1998.
Application
They run a 52 hp Ford Model 4600 Farm Tractor which is their main power unit for all hay equipment and feed units for the animals.
Challenge
While using a commercial brand hydraulic oil, the lift on the tractor unit would slowly lose pressure, chatter, and then jump back up to full lift. The oil was also thinning and losing viscosity. The unit would run hot and small leaks were also noticed.
The unit was bought new in 1978. A certified mechanic examined the tractor and found the O-rings needed to be replaced because they were no longer soft and plyable. He also found the seals in the pump needed to be replaced. The cost of repair was estimated between $500.00 and $800.00 for parts and labor plus $95.00 for replacement fluid.
