Application
The gearbox on the Alfa-Laval cream separator is high speed; 15,000 rpms. The environment of the food processing plant is damp and moist. The unit operates four hours a day, seven days a week.
Challenge
While using a commercial grade gear lubricant, they were experiencing high temperatures resulting from the high speed operation. The presence of water used during frequent wash downs was causing the oil to break down, requiring monthly lube changes.
