Mechanicsburg Sand & Gravel sought to extend grease relubrication intervals and improve winter pumping efficiency despite no severe issues with their current product.
John and Jim Cushman tested Monolec® Multiplex Lubricant (4622) in a Cat 988 loader under harsh weather conditions, including temperatures from 0°F to 32°F and frequent rain, sleet, and snow, for about a month.
Mechanicsburg Sand & Gravel praised Monolec 4622 for its easy pumping in cold weather and effective lubrication, leading to their decision to purchase it for year-round use, starting with their conveyor system bearings.
Mechanicsburg Sand & Gravel is located in Mechanicsburg, Ohio. They are a sand & gravel operation that services all of southwestern Ohio. They have been a valued LE customer since 1985.
One of their hardest working pieces of equipment is a Cat 988 loader, used for loading gravel into the trucks, or moving it to other designated areas within their operation.
Although Mechanicsburg Sand & Gravel was not experiencing any severe problems with the current competitive product they were using, they were interested in extending their grease relubrication intervals. They also wanted a grease that would pump easier in the winter weather.
John and Jim Cushman of Mechanicsburg Sand & Gravel tested Monolec® Multiplex Lubricant (4622) in the Cat 988 loader. The Monolec 4622 was left outside 24 hours a day for approximately a month. The temperature during this period ranged from 0°F to 32°F (-17.8°C to 0°C) and it often rained, sleeted and snowed.
While using Monolec 4622 during this month, Mechanicsburg Sand & Gravel stated that it pumped very easily in cold weather. It also stayed in the bucket pins very well, providing excellent lubrication to the 988 loader.
Mechanicsburg Sand & Gravel was very impressed with Monolec 4622 and intends to purchase it for year-around use. They purchased their first drum and started using it in conveyor system bearings.
