Excessive grease consumption of two tubes per day led to rapid wear of the pounding mechanism bearing on the BTI Impact Hammer.
LE Lubrication Consultant Kevin Chapin recommended 4622 Monolec® Multiplex Lubricant, a high-quality lithium complex grease with excellent low temperature pumpability, mechanical stability, high dropping point, corrosion resistance, and extreme pressure performance, meeting NLGI GC-LB specifications.
Switching to LE 4622 grease reduced A.J. Trunzo’s consumption from two tubes per day to two per week, saving $1,812.20 annually in grease costs, with additional savings in downtime and bearing replacements.
I can’t believe how much less LE’s grease is costing us and we may not have to ever replace this bearing again!
- Maintenance Manager Jim StoneA.J. Trunzo, Inc. is a construction, paving, hauling, earth moving, and excavating company. They have been in business since 1955 and an LE customer since 2006.
A.J. Trunzo operates a BTI Impact Hammer for breaking up rock, concrete and blacktop.
Grease was pounding out causing the pounding mechanism bearing on the BTI Impact Hammer to wear out quickly. Grease consumption seemed excessive at two tubes per day.
LE Lubrication Consultant Kevin Chapin recommended 4622 Monolec® Multiplex Lubricant. LE 4622 is a high quality, lithium complex grease that meets the requirements of the NLGI GC-LB specification. It has excellent low temperature pumpability, good mechanical stability, a high dropping point, corrosion resistance and extreme pressure performance.
While using a commercial grade grease, A.J. Trunzo was using two tubes per day on a twelve hour shift. Since converting to LE 4622, grease consumption has decreased to two tubes per week on the same exact maintenance schedule and machine usage.
In a one year time period A.J. Trunzo has saved $1,812.20 in grease cost alone, not to mention downtime and bearing replacement cost savings.
