Switching to Duolec® Vari-Purpose Gear Lubricant (1605) has impressed the chief operator by extending drain intervals and simplifying lubricant inventory, highlighting its longevity and versatility.
Duolec 1605, used in the Village of Webster Wastewater Treatment Plant, extends service life in gear reducers beyond the standard six-month interval recommended for commercial grade lubricants, highlighting its effectiveness in heavy-duty applications.
Switching to Duolec 1605 has extended oil change intervals to 12 months, with no signs of excessive wear and the lubricant’s wear-reducing additive providing significant value beyond its cost.
Even at 12 months the oil still looks good, but we change it anyway. I know we have received more than our money's worth.
- Chief OperatorThe Village of Webster Wastewater Treatment Plant, located in upstate New York, has used LE products at their plant since August 1978.
Gear reducers power the primary and secondary clarifiers.
The chief operator at the plant is particularly impressed with two characteristics of Duolec® Vari-Purpose Gear Lubricant (1605). First, he feels that it is exceptionally long lasting in service. By changing to Duolec 1605, he has been able to extend drain intervals over commercial grade lubricants. Secondly he knows that the lubricant is exceptionally versatile in that it has reduced and simplified his lubricant inventory.
Duolec 1605 is formulated for heavy-duty service in transmissions, differentials and industrial gearing; thus, it meets a wide variety of needs at the Village of Webster Wastewater Treatment Plant. An excellent example of the extended service life of Duolec 1605 is its use in the gear reducers on the primary and secondary clarifiers. The manufacturer recommends change intervals at six months. While using a commercial grade lubricant this six-month interval was standard practice.
Since changing to Duolec 1605, the change intervals have been extended to 12 months. Per the chief operator, “Even at 12 months the oil still looks good, but we change it anyway. I know we have received more than our money’s worth.”
As a part of their preventive maintenance program, the gear reducers and all other components are inspected on a regular basis. There hasn’t been any sign of excessive wear since the introduction of Duolec 1605. Much of this is attributed to the fact that this lubricant contains Duolec,® LE’s exclusive wear-reducing additive.
