Commodore Marine Service, Inc., located along the Mississippi River, has been in business for more than 10 years, dredging harbors and lakes throughout the Midwest.
Application
The dredging machine at their location is an Innovative Material System Model 4010 with a 270 hp Cummins engine.
Challenge
The cutter head for this machine operates completely under water 10 hours a day while the dredging takes place. They have tried all types of greases for the cutter head and nothing has been satisfactory for the severe conditions.
LE Solution
The local LE lubrication consultant recommended Almaplex® Industrial Lubricant (1275), which is an excellent general purpose EP lubricant for industrial or fleet use. Almaplex 1275 contains Almasol®, LE’s exclusive wear-reducing additive. It is very effective in severe operations caused by moisture and high temperatures. It seals out dirt and water and prevents corrosive wear.
Results
The prior lubricant was LPS—Therma Plex Aqua NLGI II. Due to the severe conditions, they were using 2 tubes a day. Operating under the same conditions, only 1 ½ tubes of Almaplex 1275 is needed per week.
