Challenge

P.J. was worried about the longevity of his truck’s transmission and differential, the regreasing intervals, and the lubricant’s quality despite using an OEM recommended product.

LE solution

The local LE lubrication consultant recommended Monolec® Gear Lubricant (703) for transmissions, Monolec Gear Lubricant (704) for differentials, and Almaplex Industrial Lubricant (1275) for fan hub bearings, highlighting their effectiveness in reducing wear and handling extreme conditions.

Results

P.J. is highly satisfied with Monolec 703-704 and Almaplex 1275, achieving a 25°F temperature reduction, doubling oil life, halving seal usage, and reducing grease consumption by 75%, leading to significant cost and labor savings.

I am confident that there is less wear in the transmission and rear-end.

LE Solution

The local LE lubrication consultant recommended Monolec® Gear Lubricant (703) for the transmission, Monolec Gear Lubricant (704) for the differentials and Almaplex Industrial Lubricant (1275) for the fan hub bearings. Monolec 703-704 is a versatile and multi-viscosity EP gear oil which exceed the demanding requirements of all types of differentials and transmissions in over-the-road and stop-and-go fleets and off-highway equipment. It also contains Monolec, LE’s exclusive wear-reducing additive. Almaplex 1275 is a general purpose extreme pressure grease for heavy-duty industrial use. It is especially effective in severe operations caused by moisture or high temperatures. It seals out dirt and water and prevents corrosive wear.

Results

P.J. is very satisfied with Monolec 703-704 and Almaplex 1275. With the Monolec 703-704, the temperatures in the transmission and rear-ends have dropped from 150°-175°F (66°-79°C) to a consistent 125°F (52°C) – a drop of 25°F minimum. P.J. states, “I am confident that there is less wear in the transmission and rear-end.” In the past, P.J. had replaced his gear oil every year. With Monolec 703-704, he has extended his oil life to two years. He uses half as many seals as before the change.

P.J.’s Trucking has used Almaplex 1275 on the Ford L9000 since it was purchased eight years ago. P.J. was hesitant in purchasing Almaplex 1275 in the beginning however, he agreed and had outstanding success using it in his previous truck. The truck is idle during the winter months, but the bearings never show any signs of rust when Almaplex 1275 is used. The old truck needed the fan hub bearing replaced three times a year while using the previous grease, but with Almaplex 1275, it was only replaced once a year. P.J. found that Almaplex 1275 stayed in better than his ordinary grease. He was using three tubes of a major brand grease every week. With Almaplex 1275, he is only using two tubes every other week. This not only saves him in lubricant costs, but also labor.
