Challenge

With our 450 John Deere excavator, Mark took temperature readings at the pump head before installing the LE fluid and noted the temperatures to be 260-270 degrees Fahrenheit. After changing the fluid, Mark allowed the operator to run the equipment hard for an hour and again took temperature readings. The new temperature readings with the LE fluid were a stable 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Needless to say, we are certain these results will increase the production, uptime, and overall life of the equipment that our business is based on.

We will continue using LE’s 7500 Power Fluid, despite the cost difference, because we understand that the increased life, uptime, and performance of our equipment will more than offset the price differential of the LE product. We will also test the other products the LE representative has recommended.

LE Solution

When we were first approached by the Lubrication Engineers representative, we were very apprehensive about the claims that were made as to the performance of the products and the cost. Our Maintenance Manager, Mark, had used the products previously at another company with great results. Because of Mark’s positive experiences, we decided to test the products that were recommended.

Results

We purchased the LE 7500 Power Fluid and installed it in several pieces of equipment as a test. That equipment included a John Deere 544 loader, a John Deere 624 loader, and our John Deere 450 excavator. Upon installing the fluid in the loaders, a big improvement was immediately noticeable in the performance of the transmissions. Previously, the loaders required warm up time and shifted sluggishly, but with the new LE fluid, no warm up time was needed and they shifted like new.
